If you are skeptical about the value of sealcoating, it may help to understand a bit more about what the elements can do to an asphalt driveway or parking surface. Asphalt is composed of tiny rocks that are bound together by a tacky, sticky agent. When formed by compression into a flat surface, the asphalt may appear to withstand all but the most severe forces. In fact, well-made asphalt can withstand tremendous forces, from the weight of vehicles weighing many tons to the impact caused by falling tree limbs. Those forces may strike an asphalt surface without making a dent. However, it is typically not the large forces that present problems for asphalt. Instead, it is the smaller–even the microscopic–forces that eat away at the surface, compromising its integrity.
An unsealed asphalt surface may appear non-porous, but in between the tiny components that congeal to form asphalt are tiny, and mostly invisible, openings that allow water and other elements to infiltrate and thereby weaken the strength of the asphalt surface. Seal King’s sealcoating process fills those gaps, preventing moisture from getting under the surface and eating away at the structural integrity. If you have ever bought a pair of expensive shoes and sprayed them with some kind of silicone formula, you understand the concept of surface protection. Silicone spray prevents water and dirt from getting under the top layer of your shoes and damaging them from the inside out. Sealcoating a driveway or parking surface is similar.
And much like silicone sprays, not all asphalt sealcoating is the same. For a valued pair of shoes, you would likely use a proven, reliable spray to offer the desired protection. The same is true with asphalt sealants. Seal King uses only the best materials to ensure that your driveway and parking surfaces can withstand the forces that would cause them to crack, pit, and eventually break apart to the point of being unsafe. Seal King adds beauty and, more important, longevity to your asphalt surface.
