History of Seal King
Seal King was founded in 1991 by owner and CEO Ben Nelson as a one-man residential driveway sealcoating operation in Lakeville. The business briefly operated in Mankato while Ben attended Minnesota State University, Mankato before relocating to Eagan in 1993 and expanding with a small fleet.
In 1995, Seal King moved to Savage and launched its franchise program, opening its first franchise in Bloomington. The network expanded into Wisconsin and Iowa by 2000.
In 2001, the company established its corporate headquarters in a 6,000-square-foot office and warehouse in the Air Lake Industrial Park in Lakeville. Today, Seal King and its 23 franchise locations service over 25,000 homes annually and apply more than 300,000 gallons of “Hot Mix Sealer” each season.
